Wind Damage
High-speed winds are one of the most common aspects of any storm. They can take a major toll on your roofing. Shingles that have already taken damage are at risk of flying off in extremely high winds. Shingles can also pull up from their spaces and flap in the wind, causing major granule loss and excessive damage to the shingles themselves. Winds can cause problems, and make problems worse.
Hail Damage
Hail impacts are notorious for causing incredible amounts of damage to roofs. The falling ice can crack, tear, and completely dislodge shingles. If you find shingle granules, bits of shingles, or even full shingles you definitely need some repairs on your roof. These shingles that have taken damage are a major issue, as the shingles are the shields your roof uses to protect its more sensitive internal components. Without all the proper shingles, your roof can go from perfectly fine, to nearly irreparable.
Water Damage
Water damage is not only a sign of recent storm damage but in many cases also a sign of damage from previous storms. Once your roofing is damaged, water can flow into areas that are highly vulnerable to water damage. That’s how roofs end up with leaks and even serious structural water damage. If water damage goes unchecked, the roof itself can even cave in. All from something small, like water leaking into the roof because of a missing shingle.
